I have quite a few cycling jerseys and the ones I like the best are the all-over patterns. They don't show dirt and they are striking from a distance. For my concept, I was inspired by the idea of Scottish Clans; which is kinda how it feels to be a biker, part of a prideful community ... a family, really. So I created a "plaid" made out of bike chains. Part punk rock/part braveheart. In girls and boys colors.

Modern furniture advertising is a sea of clean lines, stark minimalism and let's admit it, photo shoots that would have any art buyer blushing. But Blu Dot isn't like most modern furniture manufacturers. They have a sense of humor and a Midwestern humility that called for a different kind of campaign. Using royalty-free stock images, we created an advertising campaign sure to stand out in the pages of Dwell. Clever headlines and almost ironic backgrounds are a nod to the company's "don't take itself to seriously" mission. (created at mono w/ Paula Biondich)

The Twin Cities Marathon has a reputation as being one of the world's most scenic marathons. Paring visual beauty with the energy of sport, we emerged with a graphic language that aimed to capture and combine both. Anchored with a strong graphic mark complemented with pattern, photo and typography, we created metals, shirts, advertising, posters, registration materials and products.
In 2009 I opened up side project, Winterborn Studio, a small screen printing shop in Northeast Minneapolis. There, I designed and printed posters for art shows and personal projects. Recently I moved my business to Highpoint Center for Printmaking where I am part of a cooperative of working printmakers. Because of the rigors of my day job, by work for Winterborn is not as consistent as I would like, but I will continue to post printmaking work as I create it.

For the past 5 years, I have had the pleasure of creating many graphics for what I deem as the most creative company on the planet. From packaging to large format presentation graphics, logos and store displays. But Apple asks that we don't post any of their work and I gladly adhere to their policy. It has been an honor to crate work for them and I hope to continue to help them communicate their brand through simplicity and joy. (created at mono)

Neenah Paper came to us with a project; create enthusiasm for their product among designers. We returned with an idea to create a new line of papers based on every designer's heros, Ray and Charles Eames. We worked with Neenah's manufacturing team to create papers inspired by the Eames interests; architecture, furniture, and painting. All the colors and textures for the line were inspired by a visit to the Eames' home in California. We designed swatchbooks, advertising and sample books to demonstrate the paper's usability.
Following up on the success of the Real Good Experiment, Blu Dot asked us to create a campaign that would advertise the launch of their new e-commerce website. Inspired by a YouTube video in which a woman performs Prince's Dirty Mind in exchange for a chair, we wanted to see how far people would go in exchange for their favorite piece of Blu Dot furniture. We created a forum for offbeat, gross and some mind-blowing trades people were offering up in trade. What resulted was the ultimate time suck, with people spending nearly 9 minutes per site visit. See all the wacky trades here. (created at mono w/ Paula Biondich)

Midwestern furniture manufacturer Blu Dot was set to open their first retail store in New York City. They asked mono to create a campaign that would encourage people to visit the store. Having always been interested in the practice of "curb mining" we concepted a project that engaged New Yorkers and the country alike. We affixed GPS units to 10 Real Good Chairs and placed them on the streets of NYC. We watched as one by one, the chairs were taken to new homes. We followed along and made a film about the new owners. Watch the film here. (created at mono w/ Paula Biondich)

Minneapolis was on the verge of doing something historic, launching the cities first ever bike sharing program. They had an ambitious goal of being the biggest bike sharing system in the country. They asked us to create some street-level advertising that would get the word out. We wanted Nice Ride to feel like it was part of the community, giving the Twin Cities a sense of ownership. We enlisted the skills of 5 local artists to paint, draw or design their favorite bike ride. We combined that artwork with images of local bike enthusiasts. (created at mono w/ Riley Kane)
